Like a Luchador

Recently I had the great pleasure of being sent some gear from the amazing Seth of Sea to Summit, over in Perth. One of the items I asked for was a pair of Evolv Shamans. I don’t know if he mis-read it, ignored it or what, but instead I received a pair of Evolv Luchador.

I’ll be honest, I was a little underwhelmed when I opened the box. Expecting the classic orange and blue Shaman, which I knew well, loved and needed a pair of. When I saw the luscious red Luchador, I wasn’t sure what to think. Needless to say I put them on and instantly I was in love. The tongue of the shoe is soft and elastic with a small layer of foam, the shoe hugs in all the right places and is incredibly sensitive. I don’t know how to put this, but Shaman….. I didn’t miss you…..

I wore them to test the open boulders for the Australian Boulder Championships in Ballarat, and then took them for a test run in the grampians this past weekend. They rocked… excuse the pun… I even managed to toe hook in them, go figure. Repeated the little classic ‘Spanking the Monkey Bars’ at Kindergarten in them with no problems!

I’d give them a good 8.5/10, mostly because I like velcro more personally and could do with some more toe rubber….. but then they’re a pretty awesome all rounder and an amazing technical shoe….. If you like face climbing, slab (god forbid), or steep front step and pull stuff, they are a must have. Put some in  your shopping basket next time your down the shops and you won’t regret it.
